Combined Cadet Force

The aim of the Combined Cadet Force is to provide a disciplined organisation so that its members, both boys and girls, may develop:-

  • Self-discipline
  • Responsibility
  • Self Reliance
  • Endurance
  • Resourcefulness
  • Perseverance
  • Leadership

The CCF is an organisation dedicated to the development of young people in terms of self-discipline, self reliance, teamwork and the taking of responsibility. Based on a military framework, supported by the Ministry of Defence, its activities extend well beyond the traditional narrow view of drill, drill and more drill. It plays an important role in personal and social education as it concerns an important aspect of citizenship.

Through an innovative new programme developed by the Cadet Vocational Qualification Office (CVQO) and sponsored by the MOD, all cadets over the age of 16 years now have the opportunity to receive a nationally recognised diploma that is respected by both employers and institutes of higher education. The successful completion of this BTEC programme will give them 4 additional GCSE's A* - C. The First Diploma in Public Services.

To successfully complete the BTEC programme, cadets are required to complete a course syllabus that includes;

  • Supervised adventure training activities
  • Additional classroom work
  • Weekend camps/night exercises
  • Attendance of annual week long camp

In addition to adventure training the programme also teaches important practical skills such as interviewing techniques and professional CV development skills which are readily transferable to both college and the workplace. Training is carried out by highly skilled instructors in an existing and inclusive environment.
