All students in Year 7 have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument. The process begins with the completion of Instrumental Selection forms, which are sent to Primary Schools. Writhlington Music Staff then visit Primary Schools in order to talk to students and try out musical instruments.

Free instrumental tuition is available for the first term in Year 7. After this, the fee is £70 per term. Instrumental hire is £10 per term.

We are particularly proud of our instrumental music tuition scheme at Writhlington known as the Band Scheme. There is a thriving music tradition in the school and this important work begins with Primary Schools during Year 6.
