Illness at School

Illness at School

The school cannot administer any medicine, (including paracetamol and aspirin).

If your child needs to take PRESCRIBED medicine during the school day, the medicine should be clearly labelled with the student's name and the dosage requirements and handed in at Reception for safe keeping. Children with asthma are encouraged to carry their inhalers at all times. Spare inhalers may also be given to the Reception staff for emergency use.

If your child becomes ill during a lesson he or she should report to the teacher. During Tutor Period they should report to the Tutor, during break time to the staff on duty or the Head of Year, and during lunchtime they report to a Mealtime Assistant or Head of Year. The child will be sent to Student Reception if necessary, and, if appropriate parents will be contacted. However in most cases if a child is sent to school, we would expect them to be here all day except for exceptional circumstances.
