Stretch & Challenge for all students
Writhlington School is relentlessly committed to Enterprise in Science and the development of enterprising attitudes and skills which enable young people to become successful learners, confident individuals, responsible citizens and effective contributors to society. Our Ofsted report published in March 2007 confirmed that our curriculum provision is outstanding in every way. We are justifiably proud of our achievements and contributions to science and enterprise education.
Students are helped to develop those personal qualities and leadership skills essential for the world of work. Through enterprising activities in their Applied ‘A’ level Science course, both in and out of the classroom, they are given opportunities to demonstrate leadership, initiative, determination, confidence and responsibility. Teaching within the sciences can also develop positive attitudes to teamwork, to continuing education and training, to equal opportunities, and to the views, skills, capabilities and capacities of others.
Enterprise activities with social goals, e.g. re-introducing species to natural habitats, where outcomes not only benefit others but also encourage a sense of responsibility to the community and society as a whole; help our post 16 students to understand the connections between enterprise and active local and global citizenship.
